FAQ

I haven’t heard of the Diaper Bank, how long have you been around?

-The Rhode Island Diaper Bank was founded in 2006 by a group of volunteers after learning about similar organizations in New Haven, CT and Tucson, AZ.  The Rhode Island Diaper Bank received 501(c)(3) federal non-profit status in 2007.

Do we accept all sizes and brands of diapers?

 -Yes.

Will we accept a package that has been opened?

 -Yes.

Do we accept donations of adult diapers and incontinence supplies?

 -Yes.

Does the pack of diapers I buy go right to a child?

-Yes.  We repack diapers into smaller sealed bundles of the same size that can be easily stored and distributed by our partner agencies.   Your donated package of diapers may in fact serve many children.

Do you accept cloth diapers?

-No. Though we respect the choice to use cloth diapers, we accept only new disposable diapers, as they are most compatible with daycares and do not add to laundromat or in home laundry responsibility and expense.

I haven’t bought diapers in years- do you suggest any retailers?

-The big box stores and shopping clubs have low prices, particularly for their store brands, which do perform well. Comparatively, diapers at corner stores, pharmacy chains, and super markets have higher prices.

Do you prefer donations of money or diapers?

             -We happily accept both.
